Interview Q&A 6 questions
Q1. Walk me through how you would structure a large React app for a team of five.
I lean on a feature-folder structure with shared UI primitives, colocate tests, and keep cross-cutting state in a thin store.
Q2. Describe a performance problem you fixed and how you measured the win.
A dashboard re-rendered the whole table on every keystroke. I memoised rows and moved search to a debounced selector, under 40ms in the profiler.
Q3. How do you approach accessibility on a new feature?
I start from semantic HTML, test keyboard flows first, and run axe in CI.
Q4. How do you keep a design system in sync between design and code?
Tokens are the single source of truth, exported from design and consumed in code, so a color or spacing change ships from one place.
Q5. Tell me about a disagreement with a designer and how you resolved it.
We prototyped both options behind a flag, put them in front of five users, and let the data settle it rather than opinion.
Q6. What is your approach to testing a critical user flow?
Unit-test the logic, cover the happy path and one failure with an integration test, and gate releases on an end-to-end smoke run.
